  • Why do I need to clean my dryer vent?

    a.     The most important reason to get your dryer vent cleaned is to reduce the risk of fire caused by your dryer.  When a dryer vent is clogged, the heat produced by the dryer is unable to escape and causes the dryer to work harder and overheat.

    b.     Getting your dryer vent cleaned annually will ensure that your dryer works efficiently and will extend its life of it.

    c.     Reduce home energy costs used to power your dryer.

  • How often should I get my dryer vent cleaned?

We recommend annual cleanings.  This is an important step in preventative home maintenance to stay ahead of heavy lint buildup.

  • What causes a dryer vent to clog?

    a.     The most common cause is the build-up of lint.  We all have lint traps in our dryers but, unfortunately, only part of the lint gets caught by the trap.  The rest makes its way into the transition hose and ductwork and sits there until it is cleaned out.

    b.     Another common reason we come across is bird nests.  Birds like to nest in the dryer vents because they are a warm, hidden space for them to lay eggs.  When cleaning out a bird's nest, we are careful not to harm the birds!

  • How do you know if the dryer vent is clean?

After a cleaning, we will test airflow to make sure it has improved, and we will run our camera through to ensure everything is cleaned up perfectly.

  • How much does it cost to have dryer vent cleaned?

    a.     For a single-family home, prices range from $149 - $199 per vent.  Price will depend on a few different factors.  Estimates are able to be given over the phone or through email.

    b.     For multifamily or multi-unit communities, discounts are available.

Dryer vent repair and replacement

Certain materials should not be used for dryer venting and we will swap it out  for the safest, most efficient materials.

With routine maintenance, the right materials will last a long time.

Dryer vent installation

Whether it is replacing a long run of foil hose that is not safe or installing a dryer  vent that never existed, there is no job too big or too small that we cannot help  you with.

Exterior vent installation (termination point)

There are a few different versions of exterior vents. These are installed at the  end of the dryer vent and are meant to open when the dryer is operating and be  close when it is off. Ensuring this is in place and working properly is crucial as it  will keep out rain, snow, birds, and squirrels.

The exterior vent we install is the best of the best. It is powder coated metal  that features magnet like tabs to work exactly how it is supposed to while not  falling apart like a poor quality, plastic vent you may purchase from a hardware  store.

Bird guard installation

Along with the right exterior vent cover, a bird guard is also commonly installed  as a secondary means of protection against birds and squirrels. Dryer vents are  great places for birds to build a nest and lay eggs because it is hidden and  protected from predators. Unfortunately, this poses the same threat that lint  buildup does so it is crucial to keep them out.

The Defender Bird Guard we install is a top-quality product that will last forever. Unlike other bird guards  that have a screen, lint will be able to escape and no birds will be able to get in.  The screen-like bird guards are hazardous as they trap lint and cause complete  blockages.
